2001 Volkswagen Jetta Borrowed This Vw Jetta Now Left Turn Signal Stays On

I have borrowed this 2001 VW Jetta, and now the left turn signal stays on with no flash. The only way I could get to go off was to take off the battery cable. The indicator light on the dash steady.

Possible faulty Comfort Control Module... happens after locking
the vehicle (alarm flashes lights to indicate activation)?
