We recently bought a 2001 vw golf gl 2.0 and it did not come with an owner's manual. We went to our local parts store which is Federated Auto Parts and said that the transmission is leaking fluid from the front seal and we need the seal and some fluid. They didn't know what kind of fluid it requires and said that they don't feel comfortable possibly selling the wrong fluid to us and we should find out what kind it takes. We've searched for hours online for this specific question and for a free owners manual to look at and have come up with nothing. We're hoping you can tell us what kind of transmission fluid we need. We really appreciate your help!

Use a Import Multi-vehicle Fully Synthetic type ATF. Volkswagen lists a manufacturer part number as G052162A2.
