Hi,

Actually I bought this car as used couple of months ago and found out (dealer did not tell the truth) that there is engine leak but it is minor. Can you please advise me that what should I do because one of mechanic suggested that you should not bother about it because there is no certain solution for it, because it might be a small seal problem or may be I will have to take your engine apart fully and will cost you a lot (or more that you paid for your car) so thought may be I should leave it like that. Now I have two questions:
1. Can it cause any trouble during MOT
2. I topped up engine oil yesterday and calculated that leakage is about 75-100ml in 40 days so is it too much or should I just leave it like that.

Please advice.

Thanks,
Vik

Is this an external leak or are you burning oil?

This is my first car and I do not know much about it but I remember when mechanic was talking about the leak he was referring to the filter and around that area.

Get them to wash it down and re check after a few days driving, it may be just the filter seal weeping.

I drive 75 miles a day on week and since last top up which I did nearly 40 days ago, I have driven approx. 1500 miles. So how much oil do you recon I have burned.
Also, can there be any trouble during MOT.

Thanks

You need to do an oil consumption test and make sure its not external leak as this will probably affect your MOT.

Oil consumption test is easy, zero trip meter ensure engine oil is at full mark and not over full, drive 1,000Km's and re check oil, if low top up but measure amount needed, do this and advise on oil quantity needed per km's driven and ensure that there is no external leaks first.
