Advice on car part

Vw golf advantgarde 2001 reg. Runs fine except high revs and stalling sometimes. Engine light on. Had diagnostic done and new leads and spark plugs, was advised throttle body to be replaced, was quoted £800 for new part and fitting! Have sourced a new part with 2yrs garrantee for £94 from Ignitioncarsparesuk. Though it is not a vw original part will it fit/work ok? I got the correct part number for my model 1037133064J. And is it a long or specialised job?

What I would like to know first is what the exact fault codes were that the scan detected, are you able to advise on this?

Thank you for reply Mark, Im sorry I do not have the fault code.I do worry that some garages do rip off women as they think we don't know much and in my case they may be right! Have tried to research, hence came up with the part for much cheaper and hopefully it not a long job so only 1hr labour to fit?

Had the throttle body done and now revs are fine and running well but the engine light still on?

There is still a code set in the system, you will have to get a scan done, some of the larger parts store will do this for free.
