When I start the engine in the morning, it makes a sound.

The sound lasts only for a couple of seconds. It's not a squeal, not a scraping sound either. Just sounds like a belt is slipping. This began about 3 days ago. What might this be, and would it be costly to repair?

Check to see if the belt is loose. It could just be a belt tensionier or a worn belt.
