I have a 2001 VW Passat. It has been extremely hot in San Antonio. This pass month when I drive my car somewhere and turn it off. I have to wait 2 -3 hours before I can start it again. If it hasn't been a sufficient amount of time my car will make a sound like it's not catching. Recently When I am stopped at a light or idling it dies. It will start up again after I try about 10Xs. Can someone help me?

Have you had the computer scanned for codes?If not take it to a auto parts store like auto zone they will scan your codes for free.Let me know the exact code numbers if you have any.Also when it doesn't start have you checked for spark?
