air bag light stays on and a an electrical check light stays on. The driver side window won't close once opened.

You're going to need to scan the vehicle with Ross-Tech VCDS (VAG-COM). There are some members who have this tool, it will be required for the airbag light. a $30 scan tool from AutoZone can get the P-code for the check engine light.

The Check Engine is probably your Mass Air Flow sensor or an Oxygen Sensor

I have no idea what any of this means.....

Take it to a garage that specializes in VW's... you have more than one problem (I don't think they are all related).

The fact that you don't understand the above quote, tells me that if I were to suggest something for you to do, you would
not be able to do so.
