hi when i brought the car it was knocking so i took the head off and it had a smashed outlet valve num 1 piston so i replaced the inlet and out let valves and the knocking noise is still there can you help please thanks sean

can you identify whether the noise is coming from the top half or btoom half of the engiine?

Also, when you had the cylinder head removed, did you see any signs that the piston in that cylinder had made contact with the valve [rendering it in the smashed condition you referred to]?
