Limp Mode

I have a 2001, Grand Vitara. The engine has been changed out, the heater core- fixed, the oil pan- fixed, the cv joints-fixed. The car goes into limp mode. We disconnected and reconnected the battery and it worked fine. But after driving for about 20 minutes it went back into limp mode. What could be wrong now? It also makes a whirring sound that last about 3 to 4 seconds when going up a hill.

When engine system goes into limp moode, something must be wrong omewhere and it could be sensors etc. You need a scan to check/retrieve trouble codes and proceed from there.

Noise diagnosis requires understanding where it is coming from, component responsible for it and conditions under which it occurs, otherwise it is not possible to provide any suggestions. Even with the physical vehicle, some noises are difficult to detect, especially when it requires the vehicle to be under road operating conditions to occur.
