subaru 2.2 misses at engine speeds below 1500 rpm what could cause this

just installed new timing belt and idlers-new plugs-- had miss at idle befor any of this work was done and no change was made

Is the Malfunction Indicator Light showing?

There are many possible causes for misfiring and the most common would be ignition related.
Were the spark plug wires checked?
