help please

my 2001 saturn sl engine and security light keep coming on at the same time. i need a new idel control valve but dont know if that has anything to do with it. can anyone tell me why they are coming on??

the security light is coming on because either the key you have is wornout. if you have an extra key try that and see if it heps.if your iac is bad then the service enginelightwill come on. but scan the engien for codes to wee if it'ssomething else. most auto parts stores can do this for no charge.

On that model saturn they don't have chip's in the key's they only have a pass lock sensor built into the ignition housing.You will need to go somewhere that they can read your body control module code's most auto part's store's can only read your engine and transmission code's.You will also have to read your engine and transmission code's to see why the engine light is coming on.
