Shift plate

How do I replace the shift plate in my 2001 Saturn 5 speed trans? I was told it is under the console below the the shifter.

The shift plate?I have never heard that part before lets start with what is wrong with your car and we will go from there.You probably just have a broken shifter cable end that attaches to the base of your shifter assembly which is under center console.They make a repair for the cable so you dont have to replace the cables.They sell a nice repair kit on ebay i tried the dorman one and it doesnt hold.Let me know and i will get you all the info you need.
