Have you checked for vacuum leaks and check the iac?

This engine doesnt use a iac it has a throttle solenoid that uses the throttle plate to control the idle.

Thanks for your info all who answered. I
attempted to remove what I thought was the IAC to clean it, and couldn't reach 2 torx bolts without taking apart a significant number of intake parts. Thanx to one of the answers, I will now check the throttle solenoid.

Yeah that engine doesnt use a iac so do you have a P0506 code?
