after changing a dead battery in a 2001 pontiac sunfire the gauges dont work, list all possibilities

Check applicable fuses, see if fuse circuits are hot, when they should be. Check for applicable trouble codes, to check for codes, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader. Another possibility is a programing issue. I have heard of some of these issues self-correcting after the vehicle runs a while. I don't know if yours will self-correct or not?
