2001 Pontiac Grand Am really bad oil leak

A couple of days ago my oil light can on in the car , this is the first time it has ever came on so my husband checked it and added the oil it needed then for the first I'm in almost 4 years that I have had the car it started leaking oil. Could the oil pressure sending unit possibly went bad.

How low on oil was it?

That I don't know I was working when he did everything. I have google the problem and everything I have looked up it has said it could be the sending unit or the o ring went bad. The oil is leaking only on the driver side.

It could be the sending unit you will have to get under ter and look.Try starting the engine an looking for the leak.
