Why does my car over heat while I am driving and antifreeze overflow while its happening I can smell antifreeze

Could be a bad thermostat. If you keep overheating it you may do engine damage. You may have done some already?

The first thing to check is if your radiator cooling fan is working. It should come on before overheat/antifreeze escapes and smells.
