2001 Pontiac Aztek engine removal.

hello everybody I have a question for you guys hoping somebody can help me am trying to change the engine on 01 Pontiac Aztek .mi question is do I have to put cylinder #1 at TDC before I start taken it apart trying to avoid extra work because #1 cylinder is on the back side. thanks an advance your help be appreciated.

So i not going to have any problems to start the the engine ones the other one is in ? Thoes the pcm dont need to know sylinder one position.can you please explain a little .

once you have the new engine in and everything hooked up the ecm will find Number 1 as long as it's not a different type of engine that has different electronics in it.
