2001 Oldsmobile Alero trunk latch stuck

i have a 2001 alero but my trunk wont open. i tried using the trunk button but i couldn't open it that way i tried using the key but it did not open either. i had to remove the seats which were not easy to remove and separate the trunk latch from the trunk.my latch is still stuck on the trunk hinge but i cant remove it. what could be the problem? I really appreciate any help.

Can you see any bolts or screws on the mechanism, that you can take loose? Your best bet, might be a locksmith?

I have drilled locks before, but, not on your vehicle. I don't want to suggest anything that might cause you more problems than you already have? As far as drilling anything, use your best judgement. I can't see anything from here.
