temp gauge

2001 OLDSMOBILE ALERO

i have a 01 olds alero that only the temp gauge inside is going the opposite direction. any info will be helpful. thank you

If it is going the opposite direction, the wires have to be crossed. Has the switch been reciently replaced or worked on?

The temp gage defaults to 100F under two conditions, the pcm detects a fault with the coolant temp sensor or the ipc loses signal from pcm. Have the trouble codes checked, manufacturer specific as well as generic. Need more info to point us in the right direction. You may need a by-directional scanner to trouble shoot?
