ABS module and pump?

About a month ago, the ABS light came on my dashboard. Brought it to my mechanic, who informed me the pump and module are shorted out. I am still able to use the car, just without the benefits of the ABS.
We then put out a search for a new unit. We checked with all dealers, AC Delco and GM. I literally missed out on the last brake pressure modulator valve available in the country by 1 week. So now I need to find one from a junk yard.
My part # is 25705266. It has been superseded by #19416841, w/o traction or active brake control.
The available cross reference is for 2001-2 Aurora, 2000-5 Buick Lesabre and Park Ave, 2001 Cadillac Deville and 2000-5 Pontiac Bonneville.
To date I have purchased and had to return 4 units.
According to my mechanic, If there is any sign of corrosion or foreign material in the solenoid block, or the brake line ports are blocked at all, he does not feel safe installing it. Especially since it is a key component of the braking system.
Here are my questions:
Can the ABS Brake Pressure Modulator Valve and pump be rebuilt?
Can the modulator valve area be flushed out, so it would be safe to use?
Am I overlooking an avenue to find a new ABS unit?

Hi,

I need to get some part number confirmation. I looked up the part number and found without active brakes control and without traction control, the part number is 25720864. See pic 1 below.

If that is correct, pic 2 provides a place to purchase a new one. I went through Summit's

Hi Joe,

I contacted Summit already. In fact, they were the ones that got me in contact with AC Delco. They do not have the part in stock, and there is no actual expected delivery date.
The list of replacement numbers for 19416841 incl:
25698056, 25720864, 12216558, 25697298 and 25705266. The last number is the one that is currently in my car. From what I can tell, the module number is 12226952.

Okay, there really isn't a traditional way to rebuild it. If it has shorted, the only thing one could do is take the electronics apart and see if there are any indications of an issue and go from there.

I realize you got used ones. How badly were they corroded? To an extent, you can expect to see it. If it is truly the electronics, you could take the used one with corrosion and combine it with the one you have.

I've asked the mechanic about taking the pump from a "new" unit that he won't install, removing the pump and module, and installing it on my unit, since my solenoid section must be okay. I haven't had any loss of brakes or pulling, so the hydraulics must be okay.
He told me he isn't equipped for that, plus he doesn't know where he would get the gasket between the pump and valve unit.
Is there somewhere that rebuilds the modulator valve/pump units, in the US?

Hi Joe,

The links above are for rebuilders for the ABS modules, i.e. the electronics. There are numerous module rebuilders.
At this point, I haven't been able to get past the modulator valve/solenoid block section. This is the section where the brake lines come in and out. Up to now, all the used units I've purchased have had corrosion, dirt or oxidation in at least one of the openings to the block.
I haven't even had a chance to find out if the pump and modules work on them.
This was what prompted me to ask if anyone rebuilds the modulator valve/solenoid unit. When you send these companies your module, they usually tell you to send the module only, without the rest of the unit. In my case, the pump has already burnt out, and taken the module with it.
Since my search for an internally clean modulator valve unit has been so fruitless, I'm hoping to find some company that will rebuild what I have. The only company I found seems to be ECU Testing in the UK. I am obviously a bit leery about sending this unit overseas for many reasons.

I called Dorman, A1 Cardone, and Upfix. None of them know of anyone that rebuilds ABS units. The tech from Dorman suggested contacting some auto parts companies, to see if they have someone that rebuilds ABS units for them. I haven't had the time to do that yet.
I broke down and called ECU Testing in UK. They do total rebuilds of ABS units, but my unit is not listed as one that they fix. As he put it, there would be about a 40% chance they could do the job. If I send it to them to check, it's $70 to test plus $50 return shipping = $120.
If they are able to rebuild it, it's a max of $370 + $50 shipping = $420. If I can get a decent unit, for not too much money, it may be worth it to try.

I was hoping someone would be able to help with a rebuilt unit. As far as the place in the UK, that one I can't answer. I certainly don't want you to waste that kind of money.

When I think back, it seems as though I only remember the modules/pump falling and not the valves.

I can't guarantee it, but I have a feeling that if you would get the module, and pump, from a salvage yard and reuse your modulator valve, it would work. But if I recall, the tech said he wouldn't try. I'm not sure what to tell you at this point or why he isn't willing to try.

The idea of sending it to the UK with less than a 50/50 chance they can repair it turns me away from that idea, but as I mentioned, that is your call.

The concern my mechanic has is, he's not sure he would be able to find the gasket that goes between the pump and the modulator valves. Obviously, without it, you run the risk of leakage.
My next step will be, if I can locate the gasket I need, get another ABS unit with a working pump and (hopefully) a good module, will my mechanic rebuild my unit with the "new" pump and module. If the module isn't working, that may be the least of my worries. I can probably get it rebuilt at one of several module rebuilding shops. My modulator valves are apparently good, so I need to replace everything around it.
So, that's my next step.
