2001 Nissan Skyline onboard diagonistic light on

My car ran out of petrol and when I then later topped up the onboard diagnostic light came on after starting the car.I thought is was the gas cap that was not properly secured and I secured it but the light has been on and iam into the fifth day now and the light is not switching off on the dashboard

Have you vehicle's computer scanned for codes. It is likely that the code is related to the fact that you ran out of petrol. If that's the case, simply have the code erased.
