2001 Nissan Pathfinder Would Cause Loss Electrical Power While Driving Lights

What would cause loss of electrical power while driving? All lights, radio and fans slowly went out while driving. Will run after jump start, can smell something getting hot, and belt still good and all pulleys turning.

Sounds like the alternator isn't charging do you have a multimeter to do some testing?
