I have a 2001 Montero Ltd 3.5L. I got the cyl 4 misfire code. The code comes and goes randomly and next was the check engine light and hesitation and shaking. I replaced the spark plug wires (NGK) and the spark plugs (NGK) for all 6 cyls. This solved my problem. I bought both from rockauto.com with shipping Wires and IR plugs still cost me much cheaper compared to local auto store.Don't forget to get the lower intake planum gasket. Also it will be a good idea to change the valve cover gasket. Get the valve cover gasket kit. Get the firing order from your local stores, they should give that to you for free, if you decide to DIY. I got the firing order for mine from Autozone. Good Luck.
