something feel off van now power stearing is gone & van is overheating. I wa s told I need a serpintine belt tentioner but can not locate 1 like it doesnt have 1! I need a serpintine belt tentioner! is there such thing as a serpintine belt tentioner for a 2001 mercury village sport?

It sounds like the belt came off. And yes, you have a tensioner. Check this page for diagrams. It has both timing belt and serp belt diagrams. You will need to page down a bit, but it shows the serp belt and where the tensioner is located.
