2001 Mercury Villager Check Engine Light On Pt 1447 Been 4 Yrs Now

Check engine light is on - PT 1447 what is the problem? Been on for 4 yrs now. Brought it to the dealer to turn it off every time I need to pass a smog test. But it keeps coming back on! A car mechanic advised to change gas cap which I did. Nope. Then he advised to replace knock sensor which PT 1447 meant. Pls help!!!

Po 1447 is foe EVAP canister purge system malfunction maybe leak or purge valve or PCM. have dealer test instead of turn MIL off
