2001 Mercury Sable V6 Driven Strong Fuel Smell Googled Kept Getting

I have a 2001 mercury sable V6 when driven it has a strong fuel smell. I googled the problem and kept getting "replace the upper and lower intake gaskets" but the smeel seems to be coming from the rear of the car. can you give me a clue on what I should be checking?
