yes it can. remove the oil and re fill to proper level.

how did this happen??

If its left that way it might fome up and blow out the vent on a long ride if it gets hot

I BROUGHT THE CAR THIS WAY AND THE TRANNY SHIFTS INTO GEAR BUT AFTER A WHILE LETS GO LIKE IT HAD NO OIL BUT I TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART AND SHIFTS INTO GEAR AGAIN. CAR HAD RECENT OIL CHANGE AND I THING THEY TOPPED OFF THE TRANNY WITH TOO MUCH OIL.
