Your answers helped me to decide to take my 2001 Cougar to a dealership to confirm the cause of the annoying squeaking. After searching the Salt Lake area for dealerships, I decided on one with many positive reviews, Henry Day Ford. The technician who worked on my car specialized in suspensions. He said the bushings were fine, but the supports (I don't know the technical name for the parts) on the anti-sway bar were the cause of the squeaking. He thought there might be more to the issue than that, but he would start with those supports. I ordered the parts and scheduled another appointment for the repair. Last Friday 03MAY13, the support brackets were replaced and there are no more squeaks! I was so delighted! Slow speeds, turns, high speeds and no squeaks! Whohoo. I think the injector needle is such a good idea that I'm probably going to get that to have on hand.
Thanks to all for your answers to my call for help! I now have an excellent dealership that does great work, has friendly staff, and an immaculate shop and building. Henry Day Ford.
I'm in love with my Cougar again. Smiling big!
Thank you,
Miss Gretchen :-)
