IF the computer senses there is low oil pressure, it should shut the engine down. Are you hearing any knocking or ticking from the engine? Is the engine oil clean and full? Are there any oil leaks, especially from the oil sending unit / oil pressure switch?

Check to make sure the oil isn't coming from the oil pressure switch. Also, if there is or isn't a leak there, I would think that switch is the problem.
