rear brake shift? where is it?

So when you get in the car it starts up and turns over just fine but then the engine light comes on and when u go to get it out of park the gear stick wont budge so the mechanic is here and he installed the new brake shift under the steering wheel but that still didnt work is there a different gear shift in the back for the back brakes? and is it a different part all together?

And if so, where is this shift located??

Scan the computer for code/s and also have the shift interlock control solenoid checked and tested-
