2001 Mazda Protege Overdrive Light blinking

Hello,
I have Mazda Protege 2001 4 Cylinders, 1.6 L. The overdrive light is blinking in my car and the car is jerking and catching speed while i drive.
Can you please tell me why is this happening?

It could be a number of things. Start by checking to make sure the trans fluid is clean and full. If it is, you need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes. The flashing light indicates there is a code stored in the system which will let you know what is causing the problem.
