What are the symptom of a bad Master air flow censor?

Loud humming noise and vibration at the housing holding the new air filter. Started off a few months ago not very loud and has gotton much much worse. MPG has droped badly. Air filter replaced in hopes of fixing problem. Not causing it. Pressing gas seems to stop it.

Car runs fine. No symptoms as stated. Loud noise. Vibration of housing. CA not feel it from inside car. Must touch air filter housing to feel. And MPG of about 17.
