2001 Mazda 323 oil

Can't tell you if there's too much oil in the engine because I can't see that far. Maybe you would consider checking the dip stick. Why were you adding oil and how did you know some was needed?

i checked the dipstick before i put the oil in and it was really low so i put oil in and there is a lot of white smoke coming out the excuste do u think it is just a matter of draining some oil

First of all, was the engine off or running when you checked the oil level? It must be checked with the engine off. If it is just a little over-full, like 1/4" on the dip stick, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's more than that you probably should drain some out. When it's too high it will be hit by the rotating crankshaft and that will whip air bubbles into it. Air compresses and eliminates the oil's ability to isolate moving engine parts. That can result in serious engine damage.

White smoke is a sign of burning engine coolant. Is the level going down in the coolant reservoir?
