I have a 2001 Kia Optima SE V6 4D car and yesterday everything worked fine. An hour later, I got in the car and when I turned the A/C knob it didnt light up the button labeled A/C like usual and no a/c blew out. All of the other ac/heater/defroster buttons light up except for the one labeled A/C. No a/c blows out. My fiance and I checked the fuse boxes (the one in the car and the one under the hood) and no fuses were blown. We put coolant (not freon) in the car because it was low and that didn't solve the issue. There are absolutely no other issues with the car (no noises, no shaking, no overheating, nothing we can feel, smell, or see or that is obvious) so we are wondering what the issue is? We are also wondering if maybe we need to put freon in the car? If so, where specifically under the hood is the freon intake valave (if there is one), where do we get freon?, and is this something we can do ourselves or is this an expensive process that a mechanic has to do?
