My Jeep is a 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0. Can I use any Jeep engine as a replacement or do I need a certain year? What years or models are compatible?

That matters how easy you want to make it on yourself. We only recommend direct fit parts because when you change years, size... it causes other problems with sensors, computers, electrical components... I recommend staying with the 4.0L Jeep engine from a 2001 vehicle.
