The pickle fork gets stuck but will not pry the ball joint free. I am at a loss because I have tried everything, even a press tool and the lower ball joint just will not budge free. After many injuries I am about to give up.

If this is a torsion bar suspension, measure the length of the adjuster bolt through the nut, back off the torsion adjuster bolt and this will back off the pressure on the lower arm. When re tensioning the torsion bar, re set to the same position that you measured.

I forgot to check on this for a while. The solution was a sledge hammer, the little hammer I was using was not strong enough, took one good smack with a sledge hammer to knock it free and I happily can say I have a car again.
