On the freeway I heard grinding, then pop, then car shuts off and will not start (it will turn over). Oil leaks only when attempting to start with starter fluid. No holes, all cables and hoses look fine. Leak looks like it is coming from the front main seal. Is there anything other than the front main seal that I should consider?

The front main seal is behind the timing belt. If oil is leaking from it, you could have a broken belt and the valves could be damaged.

If cranking speed seems to be faster and softer than normal, I believe the timing belt has failed.
