My qx4 will start fine if it has been sitting for at least a few hours. In the last week if I go run an errand and then come back out to the truck it typically will not start. It cranks and cranks but will not actually start. I have to leave it setting until it cools down enough to start.

Check fuel pressure with a gauge auto parts rent it, may not be giving enough when hot and scan for codes, check crank and cam sensors.

If it is crank or cam sensor will it definitely throw a code? Because as of right now the check engine light has not come on. Could it be fuel filter?

A lot of times a crank sensor especially will be bad/on verge of and not throw a code. I doubt it 's a fuel filter even though it probably has never been changed more likely a pump that is why you check pressure with a gauge fp should be 43 w/o vacuum and 34 w/vacuum
