2001 Hyundai Grace accelerator

i have a hyundai grace 2001 model. when ever i start my engine it is accelerating by itself, even if in idle state the rpm goes up to 1500 rpm, there is also a burning oil smell.change oil last march 2013.

During cold start, the idling speed would be higher and if it does not come down after warming up, then you need to check the idle control system.

Typically that is a sign of a vacuum leak. Do a visual inspection of the vacuum hoses to see if one is cracked or disconnected. If there's nothing obvious you can spray water on them while the engine is running and still cold to see if it gets sucked in or slows the engine speed down. You can also pinch off various hoses to see if one affects the speed, then follow that to where it branches off, then pinch each branch to narrow down the location of the leak.
