2001 Hyundai Elantra Speed sensor problems

HiWill replacement of the entire speed sensor unit-wire and all retify my CEL illuminating due to a code P1502-the wire was cut flush off and then hidden in the right front fender skirt so I wouldn't see it. I'm the second owner of this Elantra, again also there is no sensor installed at this time-but the wire is there but cut off creating an open wire circuit-I talked to a mechanic and there should be a speed one in the car(Passenger side axle)-is it ok to drive with this CEL on

yes but the system is not working correctly and needs to be repaired. I would address it as soon as possible.
