My check Engine light has been on for a while now. I got a diagnostic run on it and they told me it was the EGR valve. So I bought the part, got it fixed, and the light came on the next day. I got another diagnostic run on it and now they're telling me its "insufficient EGR flow". Then I talked to a friend's friend who happens to be a mechanic who said that the EGR valve may not have been bad at all but it was the "intake hose". He looked it up and said that there was actually a recall for 99-03 Honda Odysseys for this exact problem. He told me I should try to get my money back for the valve and told me that it would be $220 to fix this problem. I don't know what to do!

Hello there friend, I had the exact problem.
What you need to do is if you are willing to put 2 hours into the van; open the hood--> Pull off the intake manifold--> clean the egr port, above the egr valve. (Using a brush and some chemicals) This should help for another several years. Or get and mechanic to do this for you. OPTION 2: Go to the dealer; they will do but same thing as described above, but they will also drill the EGR port bigger, so that there wont be anymore symptoms of insufficient egr flow.
Option 2 is generally gonna be more costly. I would only do it considering the age and mileage on the van.
