After putting a new battery in, car still won't run. It won't turn over and shows no sing of power. We are looking at the main fuse but don't know how to test it or get it out. How do we do that and what other possible issues could be the problem?

Thank you so much for your thorough response.
We did several of your suggestions as well
as check the main fuse. When we put the fuse
back in its place, and screwed it in securely, we
tried starting the car again. Guess what!
It started. We turned the car off and then
tried again. It started again. We then
went for a drive, stopped to do some shopping
and when we finished, it started again.
It appears that it was a matter of a loose connection.
Thank you again for your service to the greater
community.

Ok - where can I send the cake?
Have another question:
2000 Pontiac Grand Am
130,000 miles
We've been told by a dealership and independent
auto mechanic that the direction signal function,
located in the steering wheel needs replacement.
One quoted a price of $450.00 total - (dealer).
The mechanic quoted price of $171.00 for parts
and not sure what labor will cost since they can't
predict how long it will take to get through the steering
wheel and do the work?
Any suggestions? Anything we can do on our own?

And will definitely talk you up with our friends.

SEE

TOLD YA!

1977 JEEP CJ-5 (UP TO A 1986) WITH SAME ISSUE IS PROBABLY A 6" ON THE 1 TO 10 DIFFICULTY SCALE.
A FEW SPECIAL TOOLS ARE NEEDED ALONG WITH STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS WITH ILLUSTRATIONS + A GOOD MECHANICAL MEMORY IS NEEDED

AS FAR AS THE PONTIAC GRAND AM

SAME KINDA THINGS ARE NEEDED ALONG W/ A FEW MORE, I FEEL SURE THEY HAD TO WAY-OVER-COMPLICATE IT MORE THAN A JEEP. GOOD INSTRUCTIONS W/ PICS? GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! (NOT A CJ MEDEVAC KINDA DEAL)

THE BEST-US PART OF ALL!

YOU MUST DEAL WITH AN AIRBAG AND MAYBE SOME OTHER QUIRKS

BACK IN '93, I DIVORCED THAT "AIR BAG" THAT USED TO BE IN JEEP CJ-5, NUMBER 3 (THAT WAS THE THIRD OF MY SEVEN JEEPS) (WIFE #1 OF 2). FORTUNATELY, I HAVE NOT DEALT WITH AN AIRBAG SINCE.

I KINDA DON'T THINK THAT THE PONTIAC TURN SIGNAL JOB IS SOMETHING FOR A NOVICE TO TAKE ON

THERE ARE A FEW "HAVE TO" ITEMS THAT ONLY A STEALERSHIP CAN PERFORM (SOME COMPUTER RELATED STUFF, SOME PARTS)

AS FAR AS THE TURN SIGNALS, THE SMALLER QUALIFIED SHOP MAY BE LESSER EXPENSIVE. I HATE DEALING WITH A STEALERSHIP!

HERE'S A WAY TO GET SOME MORE QUOTES (LIKE FULL START TO FINISH QUOTES), FROM QUALIFIED SHOPS (THE MORE THE MERRIER!), SEE MY LINK

https://www.2carpros.com/questions/is-800-a-ripoff-to-fix-an-air-conditioning-sytem

THIS METHOD MIGHT HOOK YOU UP WITH THAT SPECIAL KINDA SHOP THAT YOU WOULD PUT INTO THE SAME CATEGORY AS YOUR HAIRDRESSER, DENTIST, ETC, A TRUST-ABLE, AN ALMOST FAMILY KINDA PLACE. NO DOUBTS, THE PLACE TO GO FOR ANY ISSUE, WITHOUT ANY HESITATION!

GOSH, I'M NOW HAVING A HANKERING FOR FOR ABOUT 8 CHEESE KRYSTAL BURGERS, MAYO AND ONIONS. THEY'RE ONLY 70 MILES AWAY.

SEND PICS OF YOUR NEWLY ACQUIRED JEEP!
