2001 Holden Astra Hi 1 8l Ts Fuel Gauge Working Light Keeps Flashing Empty

Hi, my 1.8l ts astra fuel gauge is not working. The fuel light keeps flashing and it says empty when I just put $40 petrol in. When and if it goes up, it can take days to rise and register the fuel I have put in. How do I fix this it's really annoying trying to drive with the light flashing at me when I know there is heaps of petrol.

most likely need to replace the sender unit in the tank.
