Ok, a lot will depend on labor rate in your area. An estimated repair cost would be $600 - $1,000 at a local garage. I suggest calling around to your local garages and get prices. After that you can call your local parts store and ask them if they could recommend a good honest garage.

Can an oil leak be exposed from vehicle sitting for a long time?

An oil leak can develope from a vehicle that has set for a long time. What happens is the seals can dry out and shrink do to lack of oil/lube keeping them soft and pliable. A long time meaning at least a year unless the seal was being to fail prior to it sitting.
