2001 Gmc Sierra Interior Temperature Control Dial Working Right You Set Warmer

The interior temperature control dial is not working right. If you have the temperature control dial set for a warmer setting and then turn it to a cooler or cold setting it will remain warm. The only way to get the temperature down is to turn the engine off for several minutes and then restart the engine with the control dial turned to the cooler setting. Any ideas?

blend door motor under the dash may be failing. have it checked at a shop with a scan tool as they can force them to work to check them
