what causes oil in the radiator? disassembled engine removed heads but see no evidence of a crack or no water in oil at all.

What kind of oil, engine--tranny? Do you have any oil coolant lines going to radiator? Engine oil is usually under more pressure than coolant, at higher rpms, so the oil should go to the coolant, if there is a leak. If it isn't a gasket, something maybe cracked.
