2001 Gmc Jimmy Passenger Tail Does Work Person Asked Run Wire Battery Light

The passenger tail does not work. The person asked me to look at it. He was going to run a wire from battery to light, but he put the wire on battery and did not hook it anywhere else and the light came on. The brake light and blinker still dont work. I have no idea why the came on when hooking wire to battery only, except if battery wire is not contacting right with battery.

I agree with you... That makes no sense. Check to make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. If they are, the only thing you can do is trace wiring to see where power is lost.
