2001 Gmc Jimmy Just Replace Iac Sensor Starts High Idle About 1000 2000 Rpm

i just replace the iac sensor .. and it starts up at at a high idle.about 1000 to 2000 rpm and drops down to to about 600 rpm .. is this right

yes, the iac motor is supposed to do this but the rpm is a bit high cold. make sure the base idle is not too high
