my 2001 gmc jimmy's 4wd isnt engaging, i push the button and all it does is tick like its trying to engage but it just flashes then goes back into 2wd

From the system description, most probaly trouble codes would be stored in system so get a scan done and let me know if any trouble codes are found.

System is equipped with self diagnostic and a scan tool is required to check for trouble codes. Kindly take note that a generic code reader would not be able to read the codes.

75% of the time this is caused by a faulty switch, however without testing the switch we cant be certain.... if the switch is good, then we should look into the module located behind the passenger side kickplate inside the vehicle, as thats the most overlooked.... have that tested...
