Rotating squeek somewhere in the engine

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus se with a 3.0 engine and the engine has a rotating squeek in it, even after I remove the drive belt. Sounds like it is coming from around the transmission end of the engine. What could this be and is it common with this engine?

the cam syncroniser back by the throttle body is a common failure for this noise. it runs the oil pump and the cam sensor is on top of it.

Do you have to dismantle the engine to repair this syncroniser?

no, remove the air filter assembly up to the throttle body and move the main wire harness off to the side. remove the cam sensor, 2 7mm bolts and one connector. release the 10mm bolt and remove the syncro. make sure you mark the way you took it out as it must be replaced exactly the same way.
